Teal, Larry: The Saxophonist's Manual
The purpose of this Manual is to provide an aid for both students and teachers in developing a correct basis to proceed on the road to becoming a fine saxophonist. The hackneyed quote, "The first lesson is the most important," cannot be stressed too strongly. Improper habits which are formed, either through ignorance or uninformed advice, may result in destructive routines which are later difficult to remedy.
This book is not intended to be a complete "self-instructor," but was conceived as an aid to supplement the many excellent beginning methods and studies available. Its intent is to help the student in certain fundamental practices not usually included in starter methods, and is most useful in conjunction with these methods.
